Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer ‘Dream Girl 2’ hit the screens last Friday and has been sailing well at the box office. The film opened on a positive note with Rs 10 crore and has clocked over Rs 40 crore in three days
‘Dream Girl 2’ witnessed a growth in collection on Saturday with Rs 14.02 crore and on Sunday the film added Rs 16 crore to its total, reports Sacnilk.This Ayushmann Khurrana starrer has scored a total weekend collection of Rs 40.69 crore. According to the news portal, ‘Dream Girl 2’ will witness a drop in collection on Monday and will reportedly earn around Rs 5 crore nett. Reacting to the box office success of ‘Dream Girl 2’, Ayushmann has told ANI, “It feels amazing to deliver my career’s best opening with Dream Girl 2. Dream Girl is a franchise that has given me a lot of love and I’m really happy with the start that Dream Girl 2 has got at the box office. “As an entertainer, it feels amazing to bring people to theatres and experience them having a great time. Dream Girl 2 is a film that delivers entertainment in spades. It has a big promise that people will laugh their hearts out and it is good to note that the film has lived up to the expectations to take this solid start at the counters.”
Speaking about being typecast in girlfriend roles, Ananya had told ETimes, “No, I don’t think so because I think that’s a relationship sort of thing. The characters have been very different. I’ve been someone’s girlfriend, but I’ve always been careful and I’ve always been very aware that my character is fleshed out properly. She’s just not an object or she’s just not there to kind of be that glamorous or beauty factor. There has to be something more than that for me.”
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, ‘Dream Girl 2’ also stars Manjot Singh, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Manoj Joshi, Seema Pahwa and Vijay Raaz. This entertainer is a sequel to 2019 release ‘Dream Girl’.
