Driver Hits Pedestrian in Santa Clara, Causing Serious Injuries

SANTA CLARA — A driver hit and seriously injured a pedestrian Thursday afternoon in Santa Clara, police said.

The collision was reported around 1:20 p.m. at Lafayette Street and Great America Way.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with major injuries, said Santa Clara police Lt. Cuong Phan.

Phan said the driver remained at the scene.

Additional details about the collision were not immediately available.

Northbound Lafayette Street was closed until about 4:50 p.m. for an investigation.
