In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan dominated the box office with two Rs 1000 crore hits, “Jawan” and “Pathaan.” However, his third release, “Dunki,” hasn’t matched the same success, collecting approximately Rs 188 crore in India within 11 days as per Sacnilk, receiving a comparatively subdued response compared to his earlier blockbuster films.

Taapsee Pannu’s HONEST interview on working with SRK, Rajkumar Hirani, Trolls, ‘Dunki’ and more…

But the game seems to be changing in the far off land of the United States of America , which is usually considered to be Shah Rukh Khan’s territory. Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire and Dunki clashed at the box office on December 21st. While Dunki had regular shows, Salaar had its premiere shows on the same day and released fully fledged on 22nd. Before the release of both the films, Salaar was leading the charge, where it had sold thousands of tickets in advance, while Dunki was struggling to see a respectable sale. But post the release, the scenario is changing in Dunki’s favour, Salaar though still leads in terms of box office revenue, but Dunki is giving it a run for its money.
Salaar had a major head start in the race on its premiere, and on day 1 it had collected about US $3.8 million, but since then, its everyday collecting has only been dropping. Its current numbers stand close to US $8.2 million. While Dunki opened to about US $ 858648, it has been growing with each passing day seeing a small dip in the middle but rising tremendously to collect US $ 7.1 million in its total run till now.
Besides SRK, the film also stars Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.
