I’m a self-proclaimed homebody. Why leave the house when I can get everything I need brought right to my door with the help of DoorDash? And that’s not limited to hangover breakfast sandwiches and late-night steak frites. When I throw a party, my first stop is DoorDash. Snacks? Check. Liquor? Check. Decorations? Check. Stress? Nowhere to be found.
Thanks to DoorDash’s biggest app update in a decade, there’s no reason for me to leave the house this summer. (90 degrees and 85% humidity? I don’t know her.) Crank up the AC, set out your favorite party decor, and read on for my favorite new entertaining-friendly features on the DoorDash app.
1) Universal search finds what you need in a snap.
Gone are the days of mindlessly scrolling multiple sites to find what you need. Now, you can search for anything and everything you want, all at once, in the DoorDash app and get it delivered on demand. So when I inevitably spill a pitcher of margaritas all over my tablecloth, I can use DoorDash to search for fun and festive options available from all kinds of stores in my area—not just the obvious party-supply stores—with just a few taps on the app.
2) Navigation tabs allow you to shop like you’re browsing—or on a mission.
Not quite sure what you need? Peruse DoorDash’s virtual shopping mall with the help of the app’s three new tabs: Browse, Grocery, and Retail. Looking for ordering inspo? The Browse tab is a great place to start. It’s where you can find all that DoorDash has to offer from its partners, from restaurants and groceries to cosmetics and office, school, and party supplies.
For grocery-delivery enthusiasts like me, the Grocery tab makes it easier to get your favorite frozen party appetizers delivered through the app by concentrating all your nearby grocery retailers in one place. Stock up on entertaining staples like chips, ice, and mixers from your local grocery store and get it all delivered through DoorDash, so you can spend your time prepping, not shopping.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. I was shocked to find some of my favorite stores hiding away in the app all this time. Explore the Retail tab and swipe through all of the stores in your neighborhood. I’m able to shop for party looks—makeup, accessories, shoes—all with the tap of a finger.
3) You can juggle multiple carts.
Once that new tablecloth is in my cart (remember when my margaritas took a tumble?), I can switch my sights to replacing what was spilled. With DoorDash’s new multiple-cart feature, you can pivot your search seamlessly from decorations to tequila, triple sec, and lime without losing your shopping progress.
