Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, shared this information in response to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), revealing that the company is working on a system where the car can identify potential parking spaces.Users can then choose a preferred parking spot by tapping on it, allowing the car to navigate and park itself after the driver exits the vehicle.
This feature, when it comes to production cars, is poised to further enhance the user convenience by providing the ability to select a parking space from the available options. This innovation goes beyond the existing “Autopark” feature available with the Model 3. While Autopark facilitates automatic parking, it does not offer the flexibility of choosing among different parking locations, and the driver is required to stay in the vehicle, ready to take control if needed.

In addition to this upcoming autonomous parking feature, Tesla has recently unveiled its over-the-air 2023 Holiday Update, set to roll out this week. The update introduces several new features, including support for Apple Podcasts, compatibility with rear-screen Bluetooth headsets, an enhanced version of park assistance featuring 3D visuals, and new blind spot indicators.
Notably, one of the key safety features in this update is the ability of Tesla vehicles to automatically call 911 in the event of airbag deployment during a crash. Besides these updates, the Tesla cars will also feature a very peculiar ‘Goat scream’ horn. The lock horn sound will be blown when you lock the car after parking it. Although, you have several other lock horn sound options available but this would be funny for the neighbours to hear, at least initially.
