Expert weighs in on Harry and Meghan ‘separation’

It appears that a separation is on the cards forPrince Harry and his wife Meghan – but it’s a separation of “brands” rather than a relationship separation.

Rumours have swirled in recent weeks about the state of the pair’s relationship as they attended various events alone.

There was one recent show of loved-up unity – at a Beyonce concert in Los Angeles – but otherwise, they have been quite literally flying solo.

But one branding expert – and friend of Meghan’s since before she met Harry – believes the separation has less to do with a marriage on the rocks than a desire for both parties to move away from the “victim narrative” perpetuated by Harry’s book spare and their recent Netflix documentary.

“I’ve spoken to mutual friends and it’s not true they are divorcing,” Nick Ede told Daily Mail royal commentator Alison Boshoff.

“What is actually happening is they are trying to now undo the damage they did with the Harry & Meghan documentary and Spare, which made them into a toxic couple,” he said.

“The first way to do that is to allow Meghan to get away from the victim narrative and away from Harry so people can see who she is.”

Ede said people needed to see Meghan’s more human side and less of the “Duchess” or the social justice warrior.

“Meghan needs to forget about being a duchess and forget about good works,” he said.

“She has been isolated in Montecito and hiding away.

“But she is fun and funny, which is why we became friends.

“There wasn’t anything fun in (the Netflix series) or in the (Spotify) podcasts.”

Sunrise royal correspondent Russell Myers said Harry’s success with the Invictus Games was one example of positive branding, which people were more likely to respond to favourably.

“He was in his element,” Myers said, referring to Harry’s opening of the Invictus Games.

“He is much better doing this than mudslinging at the royal family.

“The family probably wish he would stop talking about them and just focus back on himself and what he does best.”

There appears to be some uncertainty as to whether Meghan will join her husband for the Invictus Games closing ceremony, but Myers said he thought she would be there.

“It’s a big mystery this, isn’t it?” he said.

“I mean, are they just trying to build a bit of suspense for the Invictus Games?

“Let’s see what happens at the closing ceremony, but if I was a betting man, I reckon Meghan will be there.”
