Explained: Camera technology Oppo is bringing to Reno 11, Reno 11 Pro

Oppo has launched its Reno 11 series in India. The Oppo Reno 11 series sports a 50MP main sensor and the phones come with the company’s proprietary colour calculation technology, called Hypertone Imaging Engine. It is an imaging algorithm that is paired with other camera-related features with an aim to improve smartphone photography.
Oppo is not alone. Recently, its sister brand launched Vivo X100 series that comes with a few industry-first features. Last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones also got some nifty camera-related features. Here, we’ll talk about the camera technology used by oppo in its flagship smartphones.
Oppo Reno 11 series camera specs
The Oppo Reno 11 5G series has a triple rear camera setup. The Oppo Reno 11 Pro comes with a Sony IMX890 1/1.56-inch main camera sensor with OIS and 24mm focal length. There is a 32MP Sony IMX709 RGBW telephoto camera and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide camera.
The Oppo Reno 11, on the other hand, gets a 50MP Sony LYT600 sensor with a 26mm focal length and OIS support. The rest of the sensors are the same as the Pro variant. Both phones have a 32MP front cameras.
What is Hypertone Imaging Engine
The Hypertone Imaging Engine uses deep pixel fusion to process lossless photos in the RAW domain. Due to this, Oppo says, the image details are preserved, and the photo retains accurate colours as well as dynamic range.
AI camera features
The Oppo Reno 11 series also come with AI features like AI Denoise and AI Demosaic algorithms to increase the clarity of portrait images. Thirdly, there is the Tone Mapping Control algorithm for “optimising lighting, colouring and texture for accurate results with Indian skin tones in portrait photos.”
Oppo Reno11 series’ rear and front cameras let users adjust the aperture from F1.4 to F16 to control background bokeh and bokeh flare, which can also be adjusted during post-processing.
The Reno11 Series also comes with a Pro mode that enables users to adjust ISO, shutter speed, exposure value, focus and white balance. The device supports screen overlays to help users frame photos and compositions.
