Exter: Nissan Magnite AMT vs Tata Punch AMT vs Hyundai Exter AMT: Price, engine, features, specs compared

Nissan India recently launched the Nissan Magnite AMT in the Indian market. The price for the SUV starts from Rs 6.50 lakh and is available in five variants – XE, XL, XV, XV Premium and Kuro edition. Depending on the variant, the AMT costs Rs 35,000-50,000 more than an equivalent manual variant. In this article, let’s compare the Magnite AMT with Tata Punch AMT and Hyundai Exter AMT.

First, let’s compare the engine, the Magnite AMT is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine which puts out 72 hp of power and 92 Nm of torque. Nissan claims a fuel efficiency of 19.35kpl for the manual and 19.97kpl for the AMT variants. The Magnite is also available with a much powerful turbocharged 1.0-litre engine which puts out 100 hp of power.

Talking about the Tata Punch, the micro SUV gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine which puts out 86hp and 113Nm of torque. The Punch is also available with a CNG option and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata claims a fuel efficiency of 18.97kpl for the manual and 18.82kpl for the AMT variants.

The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cyl, NA petrol engine which puts out 83 hp of power and 114 Nm of torque. Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 19.4kpl for the manual and 19.2kpl for the AMT variants. The Hyundai Exter gets a CNG option and it also gets first-in-segment paddle shifters with the AMT.

In terms of features, the Nissan Magnite AMT gets LED bi-projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a wireless charger, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, push-button start, automatic climate control, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure-monitor and much more.

The Punch features LED DRLs, projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 7.0-inch Harman touchscreen system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, semi-digital cluster, connected car tech, rearview camera, cruise control, automatic climate control, auto wipers and headlights and much more.

The Exter is the one with more features, it gets a single-pane sunroof, factory-fitted dashcam with a dual camera, automatic projector headlamps, keyless entry and go, an 8-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, in-built navigation, connected car tech, voice-activated commands in multiple languages and much more.

Talking about the pricing and variants, the Punch AMT is available in Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. Prices for the Punch AMT start from Rs 7.49 lakh and go up to 10.9 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). The Hyundai Exter AMT is available in four variants – S, SX, SX(O), SX (O) connect and the price starts from Rs 7.97 lakh and goes up to 10 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). The Nissan Magnite AMT is available in five variants – XE, XL, XV, XV Premium and Kuro edition and the price starts from Rs 6.5 lakh and goes up to 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
