F1 2023: Lewis Hamilton ends Ferrari rumours, to race in Formula One till end of 2025

Seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton has been Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team since 2013, and the team has now announced that it has reserved the Brit for another two years after signing a new contract that will see him drive the Mercedes F1 car till the end of 2025 season. The contract puts an end to rumours that linked the 38-year old to the likes of Scuderia Ferrari.

Despite the rumours, Hamiltonhad maintained that he wishes to drive for Mercedes in Formula One.

He was in the final year of his existing Silver Arrows deal, and had been in talks with team boss Toto Wolff for a long time. “We dream every day of being the best and we have dedicated the past decade together to achieving that goal,” said Hamilton. “Being at the top does not happen overnight or over a short period of time, it takes commitment, hard work and dedication and it’s been an honour to earn our way into the history books with this incredible team.

Meanwhile Hamilton’s teammate George Russell has also put pen to a similar deal (duration-wise) that will see him in Mercedes’ colours for the next two seasons. While Hamilton currently sits on fourth in the Drivers’ Standings this season with 156 points to his name, George Russell is currently on seventh with 99 points achieved so far.
