Flipkart-owned Cleartrip CEO Ayyappan Rajagopal is leaving after 11 years: Read his LinkedIn post

Cleartrip Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ayyappan Rajagopal on Thursday announced his decision to move on from the Walmart-backed Flipkart Group after working for 11 years in multiple roles. He announced his departure from his LinkedIn account.
Rajagopal started working at Flipkart as a senior manager in the marketplace business, specifically as the head of electronics.Over time, he was promoted to Senior Vice President at Flipkart, Chief Business Officer at Myntra, and eventually became the Chief Executive Officer of the group’s travel arm, Cleartrip.
Here are excerpts from Rajagopal’s LinkedIn post:
“After 11 years, 10 Big Billion Days, 7 different roles, 3 very different companies (Flipkart Myntra Cleartrip) time has come for me to bid adieu to the Flipkart group – the OG of the startup ecosystem in the country. Every aspiring professional in their 20s looks for a dream company to work at. For some it happens and for many it doesn’t. I was lucky in my case to have gotten into my dream space 11 years back. From the day I stepped in to onboard the first seller on the marketplace to the last day of figuring out how to offer the best experience for a traveler, the journey has been so fulfilling and enriching. I came into the org as a maverick go-getter and exiting now as a well rounded executive (I would like to believe so).”
“From trusting me to manage multi billion dollar businesses in my early 30s to giving me an opportunity to take such big bold bets in business after business to enabling me to building and scaling up large teams to encouraging me to think big and fail fast, I don’t think I could have asked anything more from this place. Joining as a Senior Manager 11 years back and going on to become a CEO has been nothing but a dream run for me. Flipkart Myntra Cleartrip is an emotion for me and will always be that way. Thanks to all the brand partners, seller partners and the ecosystem to have given me so much support. Thanks to all my teams, leaders and fellow colleagues/friends for putting up with me. You all are the ones who have made this place such a smart, high octane and exciting place to work. Together we all have made Flipkart the No.1 e-commerce platform in the country, No.1 smartphone player in the country, No. 1 laptops retailer in the country, we moved cleartrip from No.4 to No.2 OTA in the country, we transitioned myntra from a fashion player to a lifestyle destination and the list goes on.”
“Me leaving the Flipkart group which has been my home for the last 11 years and starting up is my own independent decision since I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur and I feel the time is right to do it now. Flipkart has churned out several entrepreneurs in the past and am happy to join this list. It will be in the consumer tech space and it’s something that I’m super passionate about solving and I believe it’s a massive problem that’s not solved yet. Watch out for this space for the next big update :)”
“And yes, I’m around for a few more months and will have a smooth transition plan for the continued scale up of Cleartrip,” he concluded.
