Franchisee Closes Ella Bache Stores in Brisbane Citing ‘COVID Effects’

An Ella Bache franchisee says “COVID impacts” have contributed to her decision to close her stores.

Roslyn Rudd announced the closure of her beauty therapy salon in Logan Hyperdome this month on Instagram, following her decision to shut her Toowong franchise in Brisbane in 2021 due to similar reasons.

“To all our valued clients, we are sadly advising that as our lease has finished we had faced a terrible decision from the shopping centre to relocate or leave,” she wrote.

“Financially, after all of the COVD impacts to our business these past years, we are unable to reinvest in a new salon.

“So we have finished at the Logan Hyperdome with the salon now closed.

“Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives these past 19-plus years.

“Our staff and I will always remember our shared memories of your visits some for so many, many years.”

7NEWS.com.au has contacted her for comment and also to clarify the fate of her remaining Ella Bache franchise in Westfield Chermside in Brisbane’s north.

A winding-up notice posted by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission on Tuesday has revealed a liquidator was appointed for Rudd’s company EBQ Nominees on Friday.

The Chermside store is named in the notice, but no official announcement has been made about its future.

Rudd had closed her Toowong and Calamvale in past years, documents reveal.

In announcing the Toowong store closure on Facebook in January 2021, she wrote that COVID-related impacts were behind the decision.

“After many sleepless nights and stressful days, we are sad to say that due to COVID, we have had to close our doors for good,” the post read.

“Know that this was not an easy decision. We are devastated just the same as you.”
