The 32-year-old was the victim of an alleged assault in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was outside The Osborne Rooftop & Bar on Commercial Rd in South Yarra when he was allegedly attacked about 1am on Sunday.

He was punched in the face during the allegedly unprovoked attack, which caused him to fall on the road, and was then kicked while on the ground, according to police.

Two men have since been arrested over the incident.

On Monday afternoon, two Narre Warren men, aged 21 and 26, attended Prahran police station and were arrested.

The 21-year-old was charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, and assault by kicking.

He was bailed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on October 24.

The 26-year-old man was released pending further enquiries.

The club released a statement on Sunday morning following the attack.

“Ziebell had been celebrating his final match at a club function earlier in the evening and headed to the venue with a group of teammates and some staff following the event,” it read.

“He later exited the venue and was immediately set upon by a group of men in an unprovoked attack.

“He suffered injuries to his face and head and needed to spend the night in hospital.”
