Full List of Supported Indian Languages Added by Google News for News Publishers

Google News has announced the addition of two new Indian languages, Gujarati and Punjabi, to its platform. This brings the total number of languages available on Google News in India to 10. The inclusion of these languages is part of Google’s commitment to making information accessible to people in the language they prefer. Additionally, Google has received over 600 applications from news publishers in India for its GNI Indian Languages Programme, with over 300 publishers being selected to participate. The programme aims to provide support to publishers to modernize their digital ecosystem and enhance the user experience. Google India’s Country Manager and Vice President, Sanjay Gupta, stated that the addition of supported languages on Google News is a way to expand the Indian language internet and partner with the news ecosystem. The GNI Indian Languages Programme will be delivered in nine languages, making it Google’s most diverse technology programme for news publishers.
