‘Genius’ selfie stick for your dog becomes a best-seller for just $9.95

Unique pet accessories are nothing new with owners investing in everything from chew toys to special lick bowls that slow down how quickly their pooches gobble down their dinner.

But Australian pet company Bell & Bone have launched something truly unique with its dog-appropriate “selfie stick” for $9.95.

The “stick” actually attaches with a clip to the top of your smartphone where you can place a treat inside of it, so while you snap a photo your dog can be looking up at its treat in preparation.

It’s made specifically to house Bell & Bone’s dental sticks but you can put any treat in there for them to look at.

Arianne Sackville is the founder of Bell & Bone which manufactures healthy dog treats and health food sticks for your pets to chew.

“In researching what to buy for my puppy Louie to eat, I found that nothing satisfied me,” Arianne said previously. “Often, the larger the company the worse the quality, and many of the smaller brands were not tried and tested, but rather passion projects without the clinical expertise.”

In 2018, her business Bell & Bone was born with a focus on natural, top-quality ingredients paired with clinical expertise, meaning customers knew the pet food they were getting was one they could really trust.

But it’s been a more recent addition to her range that’s meant the business has really taken off. Dental sticks.

After discovering that by the age of three, 80 per cent of dogs will have gum or dental disease Arianne was determined to take action.

“The products available to owners were not helping to combat this terrible statistic. There is a health crisis amongst our pets and we need to fix it. If dental disease is left untreated, it can turn into serious, irreversible illness… which is why Bell & Bone dental range was created,”Arianne said.

Made in Melbourne the Bell & Bone dental range differs from other commercial dental products in that it has a meat-first approach, perfect for dogs who prefer a meaty taste.

It also uses superfoods with oral care benefits like seaweed, manuka honey, turmeric, and activated charcoal and other active ingredients known to prevent and reduce plaque and tartar.

And it’s not just the owners that are impressed.

“My dogs go stupid for these,” writes one reviewer about the kangaroo, mint and turmeric dental sticks. “They smell really great and even though it’s only been a week , I do think my dog’s breath smells better already! I wish I discovered these sooner”.

“Just right for 12-year-old Toc who is missing some teeth but has no problem. The vet is very pleased with her oral health since using this product,” writes another.

In March 2023, Arianne released first of a kind, healthy dental chews for puppies.

The chews are designed to help prevent plaque build-up, creating good oral care habits for dogs from a young age.

“Prevention is better than cure. So if we can train owners to look after their dogs’ teeth from puppy age, we are one step closer to better general health for our beloved pets as the age,” Arianne says.

“Each morning June looks forward to her daily dental chew! It has been a game changer during teething and has taught her how to slow down and chew her food!” says one happy fur Mum.

As well as promoting better dental health in pups across the nation Bell & Bone partners with RSPCA Victoria and donates 10c from every bag sold to the animal charity.
