Two years ago, the official sequel to Ghostbusters II was finally released as Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Original director Ivan Reitman’s son Jason Reitman took the reins this time with a story set 32 years after the events of the 1989 sequel.

The film followed the grandchildren of the late Egon (Harold Ramis) in Oklahoma, where Gozer the Destructor made a return before being foiled by the original Ghostbusters Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston (Ernie Hudson).

Ghostbusters: Afterlife concluded with the Ecto-1 being returned to the old Firehouse HQ in New York City before the echo-containment unit used for storing captured spooks began flashing red.

This teased the upcoming Ghostbusters 4, which has now had a teaser to coincide with Halloween.

The Ghostbusters Afterlife sequel’s teaser is captioned: “Something strange is coming soon. Happy Halloween, #Ghostbusters!”

Meanwhile, the accompanying social media post features a wolf howl and a full moon before the new distressed Ghostbusters logo appears, as bats fly away from it.

What the substance on the logo is may have been revealed given the recently claimed title leak for the movie.

According to respected scooper MyTimeToShineHello: “Next Ghostbusters film is called Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.” Given that those are icicles, the movie will presumably have a chilling theme.

Untitled Ghostbusters 4 hits cinemas on March 29, 2024 with Afterlife’s returning cast.
