Google: How Google celebrated first day of 2024 with Doodle

As the clock struck midnight on December 31, 2023, signalling the end of one year and the dawn of a new one, Google didn’t disappoint. It ushered in 2024 with a vibrant and interactive Doodle that captured the spirit of celebration and new beginnings. Not only that, the search engine giant also said goodbye to 2023 as the sun set on the year of – as people say – AI.
The Doodle wasn’t just aesthetically pleasing, it was packed with fun elements. The letter ‘O’ of the word “Google” transformed into a sparkling disco ball, pulsating with different colours. A smiling disco ball served as the focal point.
“This Doodle brings some sparkle and shine to start off New Year right! As the clock nears closer and closer to midnight, people around the world are planning their new year’s resolutions and wishing for success, love, joy, and everything in between,” the company said.

New year, new goals
The Google Doodle wasn’t just about celebrating the New Year but also served as a gentle reminder to reflect on the past year and set new goals for the year to come.
This wasn’t Google’s first time celebrating the New Year with a Doodle. The company has a long tradition of creating unique and engaging Doodles for holidays and special occasions. Each Doodle is like a mini-masterpiece, blending artistic expression with technological innovation.
2023 a mixed bag for Google
Google had a mixed 2023. It launched various AI models that powered its chatbot Bard. The company also incorporated AI into various services. Google launched its most refined Pixel smartphones – Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro – this year.
The start of the year was, however, tough for the company as it announced thousands of job cuts. Additionally, it has been busy with various legal battles over its Google Play policies, Android apps and Search business.
