Akira steals information and encrypts data on victims’ systems, then conducts double extortion to force victims to pay a ransom. If the victim refuses to pay, their data is released on a dark web blog. To protect against such attacks, users are advised to practice basic online hygiene and protection protocols. It is also recommended to maintain offline backups of critical data and to keep them regularly updated. Additionally, users should follow a strong password policy.
