Harry Lambert on Emma Corrin’s Miu Miu BAFTAs 2024 Look

“We’re fans of the pants trend,” says Harry Lambert of the trouserless reputation he and his client Emma Corrin have acquired courtesy of Miu Miu. “It happened by accident.” There is, of course, nothing accidental about the actor’s style, nor Corrin’s latest collaboration with Miuccia Prada’s team for the BAFTAs. The Crown star takes on the brand’s idiosyncratic musings on “chic” like they would any character: with total commitment. There is no wonder Emma was asked to present the award for best costume on film’s big night.

“There had to be an element of drama and dress-up,” asserts Lambert.

Inspired by the Miu Miu autumn/winter 2011 collection—particularly the statement shoulders, which Corrin has mastered before—Emma wore those prerequisite pants with colorblocked blue tights, a sheer bow-bedecked skirt, a boxy cropped long-sleeved top, and a pinch of their usual poise. “I haven’t seen this on the red carpet before,” enthuses Lambert, who has previously put Emma in Jonathan Anderson’s fishbowl dress and a custom “king of dudes” Met Gala look. “You don’t always have to be loud,” he continues. “You can be loud by being subtle. The loudness comes through the layering and the complexity and the freshness of the silhouette.”
