Honda Begins Production of Elevate: Set to Launch in September

Japanese Automaker Honda today announced that the production of the new Honda Elevate SUV has commenced. The company also revealed that the launch of the new Elevate is scheduled for September along with the start of deliveries. The bookings for the SUV are already underway, interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting an authorised Honda dealership at a token amount of Rs 21,000.

The new Elevate will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan and Honda claims the Elevate has a localisation of more than 90%. In terms of design, the SUV gets a large piano-black grille up-front flanked by sleek LED headlamps. It has a thick chrome bar that runs across the bonnet similar to other Honda SUVs sold overseas.

The SUV features 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped up in 215/60-section tyres. The Elevate measures 4,312mm in length, 1,790mm in width, and 1,650mm in height and has a 2,650mm wheelbase. The SUV gets 458 litres of boot space and has a segment-leading 220 mm of ground clearance. At the rear, the Elevate gets inverted L-shaped LED tail lights with a bit of a raked windscreen. It gets rear skid plates with two reflectors.

The Elevate gets leather treatment for the interior and the dashboard layout is all new. Features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a rearview camera with sensors and steering-mounted controls. single-pane sunroof, bigger 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails, a fully digital instrument cluster, LED fog lamps, auto folding ORVMs, six speakers and a wireless phone charger.
The Elevate is offered with a single engine option – a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which puts out 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. The engine comes paired either with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. There’s no diesel or hybrid powertrain on offer.

The Elevate gets Honda sensing ADAS suite which includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification system, and Auto High-Beam Assist.
The Elevate SUV will be available in four variants – SV, V, VX, and ZX variants and the Automatic transmission will only be available in V, VX and ZX variants. Honda claims a fuel efficiency of 15.31 kmpl for the manual and 16.92 kmpl for CVT. The Elevate competes with Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
