In its commitment to water conservation and sustainability, Hyundai Motor India has been working on an impressive ‘Dry Wash’ service for its customers across its service network and workshops in India. Over the last five years, the company has saved over 650 million litres of water through this initiative.
Hyundai water saving: How was it done?
Traditionally, car washing consumes about 120 litres of water per car for a single wash.By implementing Dry Wash service as an alternative, Hyundai says that it aims to mitigate the environmental impact of water-intensive washing methods. Introduced in 2017, Dry Wash is an environmentally responsible, waterless car cleaning solution that can be performed conveniently anywhere.
Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India said that with the help of the company’s Dry Wash service initiative, the carmaker has conserved over 650 million litres of water, servicing over 5.5 million cars across India over the past 5 years. This much water can suffice the day-long requirement of water for over 4.8 million people.

Beyond Dry Wash services, Hyundai has implemented various eco-friendly initiatives, such as the adoption of waterborne paint systems, paperless processes, LED lighting, solarization, and rainwater harvesting, among others.
