INGREDIENTS –

70 g zucchini

70 g carrots

60 g tomatoes, diced

3 teaspoons flaxseeds

2 tablespoons chopped parsley leaves

⅛ teaspoon kelp powder

2½ teaspoons chia seeds

1 teaspoon eggshell/calcium (see page 71)

2 teaspoons sunflower oil

600 g kangaroo mince

60 g beef liver, finely diced

2 eggs, lightly whisked

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

METHOD –

Beef liver and cinnamon complement kangaroo in this recipe, offering a metabolism-booting and nutrient-rich combo. Vegetables add a low-calorie source of antioxidants, while chia and flaxseeds offer fibre and help your dog stay full for longer.

Using a julienne peeler or spiraliser, make noodles out of the zucchini and carrots. (If you don’t have a julienne peeler or spiraliser, you can grate the vegetables.)

Steam the noodles until just tender, then set aside with the tomato.

Grind the flaxseeds in a coffee grinder or using a mortar and pestle. Stir ¼ cup of water into the ground seeds and allow the mixture to thicken (add more water if required to make a paste).

Place everything except the tomato, carrot and zucchini noodles in a large bowl and stir thoroughly to combine.

Using your hands, form meatballs with the mixture.

Portion the meatballs with some of the vegetable noodles and tomato into daily serves and freeze or store in the fridge for a few days.

Pan or air fry the meatballs if cooking.
