An ER doctor has revealed the $4.30 item he uses to remove blood stains from clothes.
Dr Joe Whittington says doctors working in the emergency room swear by hydrogen peroxide — a common household item you probably already have in your medicine cabinet.

The product can be purchased from Coles or Chemist Warehouse in Australia.
“This is how we remove blood from clothing in the emergency department,” he said in a now-viral video, alongside a clip of hydrogen peroxide.
To get rid of the red splatters from clothes, simply apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain.
The video shows the blood stain disappearing in seconds.
“As you can see, it bubbles up and it breaks apart the blood and sweeps it away,” the American doctor said.
Dr Whittington added: “We use it to get blood off skin as well. Probably shouldn’t use it on sutured lacerations though, it may weaken the bond of the healing skin edges.”
His video has been viewed more than 8.7 million times, with many surprised by the simple “hack”.
“I didn’t know about this. Thanks for the tip,” one said.
Another shared: “Wow never knew that.”

Meanwhile, many women revealed they knew about the method most of their lives.
“Us girls learned that little trick years ago from our mamas and nannas,” one said.
Another shared: “I do it also with baking soda and lemon. Apply paste to the stain, let it sit there for five minutes then scrub the textile in a gentle firm way. Grandma’s way.”
One added: “I do on this my sheets when I leak during my monthly. Works perfectly.”
