Hungry Jack’s brings back iconic burgers after messy court battle with McDonald’s

Hungry Jack’s has brought back a controversial range of burgers which sparked a messy three-year legal battle with McDonald’s.

The fast food giant has confirmed that the Big Jack and Mega Jack has returned to menus nationwide for a limited time only.

The two burgers landed Hungry Jack’s in hot water back in 2020 when McDonald’s alleged that the Big Jack and Mega Jack burgers violated its trademark of the Big Mac range.

During the legal proceedings, Hungry Jack’s chief marketing officer Scott Baird conceded there was an “element of cheekiness” with its choice of name for the burgers.

Now, Hungry Jack’s says it’s bringing back the Big Jack and the Mega Jack to satisfy customer demand.

“Our loyal customers have spoken, and we’ve listened, responding to overwhelming customer demand, we’re thrilled to announce the return of the Big Jack and Mega Jack burgers, even more excited to bring it back bigger and better than ever, packed with flame-grilled Aussie flavour and boundless deliciousness for our burger-loving community,” Baird said in a new statement.

“For those who love a flame grilled Aussie burgers, whether you are a loyal fan or newcomer to Hungry Jack’s, we invite you to be the judge as to whether the burgers truly are better at Hungry Jack’s, and we are confident we won’t disappoint.”

The Big Jack includes two 100% Australian flame-grilled beef patties, lettuce, pickles and onions, topped off with its coveted special sauce in between two sesame seed buns.

Hungry Jack’s says the Mega Jack promises “an even greater experience for those with the appetite to match.”

The Big Jack and Mega Jack return to Hungry Jack’s stores nationwide from May 7 for a limited time, and is available in-store, via drive-thru, online for delivery on the Hungry Jack’s App or through delivery partners.
