ICC Urged to Reschedule Pakistan Vs England Game at Eden Gardens Amid Kali Puja Celebrations, CAB Requests

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to reschedule the Pakistan vs England World Cup match on November 12 due to Kali Puja. The local police have raised security concerns, which prompted the CAB to make the request. This would be the third schedule change for Pakistan, following the rescheduling of their matches against India and Sri Lanka. The Ahmedabad Police had previously expressed difficulties in providing security on October 15, the first day of the Hindu festival of Navaratri. Kali Puja is the second biggest festival in West Bengal, with large-scale festivities organized by local clubs requiring significant police deployment. While the CAB denies making an official request, senior officials are aware of the concerns raised by the Kolkata Police. If the ICC agrees to another schedule change remains to be seen. The CAB has met with Kolkata Police officials to discuss the situation, but the official response from the police is still awaited. The CAB has also questioned whether the local security agencies were consulted when setting the World Cup dates. A letter requesting the rescheduling of the fixture has been sent to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
