Posting on Instagram, Sally revealed that she is “all about moderation” and whilst she doesn’t drink alcohol, that doesn’t mean she’s advising everyone not to but to “choose wisely and in moderation”.

Instead, Sally recommends people cut popular drinks like cranberry juice, iced coffee and choc malt drinks from their diet.

The first drink Sally said she never drinks is Ocean Spray’s “Cranberry Classic” juice, which contains 70g sugar and has 308 calories.

“Just because it touts 100 per cent of your daily requirement of Vitamin C, that doesn’t make it a healthy choice,” she explained.

“[In actual fact it has] 70g of sugar, 250ml PER CUP, that’s 17.5 teaspoons, to be exact.”

While many people recommend cranberry juice if you’re struggling from a urinary tract infection, Sally said you should instead look into D-Mannose supplements.

The second drink on her list was “Mother’s Energy Drink” which contains 74g sugar and has 305 calories.

The nutritionist said her reasoning for this is due to “the flavours, preservatives, sucrose, and colours Allura Red AC, Sunset Yellow FCF even though it’s unlikely you’ll be looking at the colour”.

“18.5 teaspoons of sugar. YUM,” she added.

The third drink on Sally’s list will likely disappoint coffee lovers.

She explained the “weird additives” in Nestle’s Coffee + Milk aren’t good and neither are the “three and a half teaspoons of sugar per cup that it contains”.

Sally shared that “V8 Vegetable Drink” is also a hard no, because of the 88 per cent reconstituted tomato juice that it contains.

“Heating fresh fruit juice to reduce its water content, and then adding water to the concentrate in the reconstitution process, depletes the nutritional value of its natural ingredients,” Sally said.

“There are also two teaspoons of sugar in one cup as well as ‘natural’ flavours and salt.”

Fifth on the nutritionist’s list is “Bickford’s Iced Coffee Syrup” — which has 45 calories per serve and contains 10g sugar.

Cult-favourite choc malt drink, “Ovaltine”. is also a no.

“Barley malt is actually antioxidant rich but the added milk solids, sugar and highly processed maltodextrin makes this an occasional choice,” Sally said.

Last but not least is “Nesquik Chocolate Milk”, which contains 80 calories per serve as well as 8.8g of sugar.

Sally believes this could be a cause of “tooth decay for young children”.

The nutritionist’s post attracted many comments and hundreds of comments from others.

“Great content, so many things are marketed as being healthy just because they have been used by generations of people — doesn’t make them great food choices,” said one.

“Thank you so much for taking the time to explain,” added another.

“Too right,” said a third.
