Trott stressed the importance of gaining valuable experience in the middle overs, pointing towards the T20 World Cup in June. He outlined the team’s objective, stating, “I will be looking at getting closer to a good 40 overs from us tomorrow. Being able to put some pressure on the Indian side in the middle overs with the ball would be nice.”
Acknowledging the absence of star spinner Rashid Khan due to injury, Trott assured that the management is prioritizing Rashid’s recovery, stating, “There is no real time-frame. I hope it is sooner rather than later. But there is no pressure and no rush.”
Reflecting on Afghanistan’s batting struggles in the series, Trott attributed the team’s uneven performance to their limited exposure to T20 matches. He expressed optimism, saying, “Hopefully, tomorrow we can get it all together.”
Trott outlined a clear batting strategy, emphasizing the importance of building partnerships and ensuring a strong finish in the last ten overs.
He cited their success in Mohali, stating, “We need batters going into the last ten. We have seen how hard it is to stop batters in the last five overs.”
