While we’ve known business magnates to own super luxury vehicles in India, a multi-billionaire, the CEO of Zoho Corporation and a Padma Shri Awardee, Sridhar Vembu has taken the internet by a storm as he posted a picture of his new ride – an electric three-wheeler.
Vembu took to his X handle to post a picture of his Montra electric auto. Along with him taking a ride in his new EV finished in white shade, he wrote “I am excited that my brand new electric auto Montra from the Murugappa Group is here.Fast pick up and nice suspension. I am loving it!”
In case you are wondering about the choice of vehicle, Vembu replied to a user who had a similar query. He believes that an electric auto is a great and safe upgrade over a scooter or motorcycle. “I like to think of it as the family scooter. Easy to navigate through tight spaces, easier to park.”

The Montra Super Auto EV is available with two battery pack options to choose from – a 7.66 kWh unit and a 10 kWh unit. This EV promises a range of over 160 km as per the company’s claims and gets a top speed of 55 kmph.

He also owns a Tata Nexon EV, one of India’s top-selling electric SUVs in India. When questioned about his limited discussions on electric cars, he responded to a user, revealing that he owns a Nexon EV. He said that it is used for longer journeys, while opting for an electric three-wheeler for shorter commutes under 10 km.
E-rickshaws have already gained popularity in India in the past couple of years, offering a livelihood for millions and a more affordable mode of transportation for many.
