Indian Railways’ Major Update: Rs 20 Meals on Offer for General Coach Passengers by IRCTC; Discover the Latest Food Menu Rates

IRCTC, the Indian Railways, is introducing affordable meals for general coach passengers to enhance their travel experience. The meals will be divided into two categories. Type one will consist of seven ‘pooris’ with dry ‘aaloo’ and pickle, priced at Rs 20. Type two meals will cost Rs 50 and will offer an assortment of South Indian food such as rice, rajma, chhole, khichdi kulche, bhature, pao-bhaji, and masala dosa. Counters serving these meals will be placed on platforms near the general coaches. The Railway Board has instructed officials to provide affordable meals and packaged drinking water through these counters. The meals will be supplied by the kitchen units of Refreshment Rooms (RRs) and Jan Ahaars (JAs) of IRCTC. The menu and tariff for a-la-carte items, including Biryani, have been announced. The provision of these extended service counters is an experimental basis for six months and has been implemented at 51 stations with plans to expand to 13 more. These initiatives aim to provide convenience to passengers, especially in overcrowded coaches.
