New Delhi: Various farmer associations have announced a march to the national capital – ‘Delhi Chalo March’ on February 13, 2024 to protest for, and discuss their various demands with the Centre. Ahead of the protest, the state government of Haryana has announced safety guidelines and issued a traffic advisory and precautionary orders to keep the situation under control. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar-led government has announced the suspension of internet, dongle and bulk SMS services in a total of seven districts of the state. All borders of Haryana and Punjab have been sealed and Section 144 has also been imposed in multiple districts of the state. Internet Services Suspended In These 7 Districts Of Haryana
As mentioned earlier, the Haryana government has announced that the internet, dongle and bulk SMS services have been suspended in Haryana, in seven districts. These seven districts are Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa. The suspension has been invoked from 6:00 AM on February 11 and will continue for three days, till 11:59 PM on February 13, 2024.
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh Police Holds Telephonic Conference
Preparations to control the farmers’ march have been going on and the police officials of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have held telephonic conferences to discuss and coordinate the safety and security measures ahead of the march. Higher officials are also coordinating with the police of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and the adjoining states.
Govt Issues Letter To Farmers, Agrees To Consider Demands
In a latest development, the farmer leaders including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, United Kisan Morcha Apolitical and Sarban Singh Pandher Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been issued a letter from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Government of India for the meeting. The letter states that the farmers’ demands will be considered and the meeting for the same will be held with Union Ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai, on Feruary 12, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
Farmers March: Traffic Advisory Issued, Section 144 Imposed
As part of preparations to tackle the march, Jind Police issued a traffic advisory as a precautionary measure for the convenience of the passengers. Motorists and commuters have been advised to use the main roads of the state only in urgent situations on the day of the scheduled march. The advisory also mentioned the possibility of traffic disruption on all main routes from Haryana to Punjab. Elaborate arrangements have been made by the police to maintain peace and order, prevent any kind of violence and facilitate traffic and public transport system, according to officials.
People can contact dial-112 during any untoward situation, the advisory stated. Heavy police deployment and barricading were done in Ambala, officials informed. Not just this, Section 144 has been imposed in multiple districts of the state and security agencies including the CRPF have been deployed along with the police force.
