Delhi Metro commuters can now enjoy the convenience of virtual shopping with the launch of India’s first virtual shopping app for the metro. The “Momentum 2.0” app allows passengers to buy a wide range of products and book services online while traveling on the metro. Users can collect their products at their destination stations. Currently, the app is in the testing phase to ensure smooth execution.
In addition to shopping, commuters can also access instant features such as booking bikes, e-rickshaws, and cabs, as well as view the timetable of feeder, DTC, and cluster bus routes from Metro stations. The app also includes the option to recharge Delhi Metro Smart Cards. Lockers or “Smart Boxes” are being installed at Metro stations for the secure storage of delivered goods, and commuters can also pay to use these lockers for their personal belongings.
Momentum 2.0 offers custom-made services such as last-mile connectivity options, a wide array of e-shopping choices, and digital lockers for quick and safe deliveries. The app will revolutionize the e-shopping experience by allowing users to shop for groceries and other essential items at metro stations. In-app purchases can be made using a QR code, and selected companies will use extended reality tools to showcase their goods and services.
The app also provides detailed information on metro station facilities, such as the location and condition of gates, lifts, escalators, platforms, train timing, occupancy of coaches, and space availability. Real-time information on train arrival time, platform locations, and exit gates is also available. Commuters can book cabs or bikes in advance using the app.
