Is Honda teasing a new two-wheeler to rival the Hero Xtreme 160R or SP160 scooter?

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is in the works of introducing a brand-new two-wheeler in the Indian market next week. The Japanese manufacturer has released a new teaser of the two-wheeler on its official social media handles, with a launch set to take place on August 2, 2023. As of now, it is hard to confirm if the two-wheeler teased is a new scooter, or a motorcycle.
If rumours are to be believed, Honda seems to be working on introducing a new motorcycle called SP160, which will serve as a direct rival to the likes of Hero Xtreme 160R as well as the TVS Apache RTR 160. Honda does already offer a 160 cc commuter motorcycle in India in the form of Unicorn, equipped with a 162.7 cc single-cylinder air-cooled 2V engine making 12.9 hp power and 14 Nm torque. It is yet to be seen if the new motorcycle will be plonked with the same powertrain.

The two-wheeler’s teaser reveals its halogen turn indicators, as well as its uniquely styled LED tail light. The teaser also reveals four bolts, which lead us to believe that it indeed, could be a motorcycle, with the bolts belonging to the handlebar. However, we wouldn’t strike off the new two-wheeler being a scooter just yet.
If it is the SP160, the new motorcycle could be priced from around Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom), which would put it in the ballpark of its rivals. Looking at the teaser, do you think that the new two-wheeler from Honda is indeed the SP160 or a new scooter altogether? Let us know in the comments down below.
