We can’t help it: shows like Friends and Gossip Girl impacted us so much in our youth that every time the actors who brought them to life appear on the red carpet, we can’t help but associate them with their characters. The latest example involves Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen—ahem, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively—who switched our nostalgia into ‘on’ mode while out at two separate events.
Meester made an appearance at a Prime Video party in Los Angeles wearing a red satin Silvia Tcherassi dress with a plunging halter neckline. The star of the look was an XXL flower located at the waist. Meester completed the look with a white clutch, an updo, and lipstick that matched the dress. Would Blair Waldorf wear this look in 2023? Without a doubt: On countless occasions we saw the Gossip Girl protagonist wearing sophisticated dresses with bold embellishments like this fabric rosette.

On the other side of the country, Blake Lively turned up at Taylor Swift’s birthday party in New York City. True to her usual sleek style, she was photographed sporting thigh-slit spaghetti strap leather dress by Michael Kors. She paired it with striped stockings and over-the-knee, lace-up Louboutin stiletto boots. A mesh-look handbag and gold bracelets served as finishing touches to an ensemble that would 100% suit her alter ego Serena’s bohemian style.
