Jimny: Made in India Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door exports start to two continents

Maruti Suzuki India today announced that it has started exporting the made-in-India Jimny 5-door SUV to markets around the world. The Jimny 5-door is exclusively manufactured in India and will be shipped to destinations including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa regions. The Jimny is the 18th model to be exported to other countries from India and some of Maruti Suzuki’s highest export-demand models are the Swift, Dzire, S-Presso, Baleno and Brezza SUV.
The Jimny 5-door made its global debut at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo and was launched in June 2023. The Jimny is available in two variants – Zeta priced from Rs 12.74 lakh and Alpha priced at Rs 15.5 lakh (both prices Ex-showroom). Customers can also opt for the Jimny 5-door via Maruti’s subscription programme for a monthly fee of Rs 33,550.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is an extended version of the standard 3-door version, the 5-door Jimny has 340 mm more wheelbase than the 3-door variant. In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 3,985mm in length, 1,645mm in width and 1,720mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 210mm, an approach angle of 36 degrees and a departure angle of 50 degrees.

In terms of features, the Jimny 5-door gets a 9-inch Suzuki smart play touchscreen infotainment system with Arkamys sound system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, push start/stop, LED auto headlamps with washer, fog lamps, body-coloured ORMVs, 15-inch alloy wheels and Dark green glass. Safety features include 6 airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).

Talking about the powertrain, the Jimny 5-door is powered by the 1.5-litre K15B NA Petrol engine which comes paired either with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. This engine puts out 105 bhp of power and 134 Nm of torque. It also gets Maruti’s mild-hybrid tech. The SUV also features Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with a manual transfer case and low-range gearbox with ‘2WD-high’, ‘4WD-high’ and ‘4WD-low’.
