During a Forbes event, Karan Johar highlighted that on a film set, the majority of individuals, approximately 490 out of 500, are not affiliated with the industry.

He emphasized the disproportionate focus on the few who come from film backgrounds, He questioned the focus on these few, while the remaining 490 crew members, who are not from film backgrounds, often go unnoticed.

The filmmaker elaborated further, stating that within his office, which houses around 600 to 800 employees working across various projects, the vast majority, around 95%, do not come from the film industry. He emphasized that this includes not just technicians and actors but all forms of artists and technical teams. Despite this, he noted, there’s an undue emphasis on the small percentage of star kids. He questioned why other talented actors and directors, who are not from film backgrounds, are not receiving the recognition they rightfully deserve.

During a recent event, Rana Daggubatti playfully engaged in a rapid-fire session with Karan Johar, prompting him to reveal his favorite kids. Karan Johar responded in jest, questioning if he had to choose between specific options. Rana clarified that he meant Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Alia Bhatt. “Let me do some mental mathematics and say, Alia… It’s just a safer answer for me to give you right now,” Karan said.
