If, in her 12 years of visiting the Royal Box in SW19, the Princess of Wales has tended to put a royal spin on Wimbledon whites, she surprised style watchers this year by dressing to match the Centre Court in various shades of green over the course of the championship. To catch up with Emma Raducanu on the second day of the tournament, Kate appeared in a minty Balmain blazer with contrasting white buttons, upping the ’80s vibes by pairing it with a pleated white skirt.
For the Women’s Final on Saturday, meanwhile, she selected a Self-Portrait dress in a tennis ball green shade to watch Markéta Vondroušová and Ons Jabeur face off. (For what it’s worth, tennis balls are technically classed as “optic yellow” by the International Tennis Federation, a fact large swathes of the internet have taken issue with.) Pinned to her lapel? A bow in the tournament’s signature dark green and purple colors.

The Princess is a confirmed fan of 2-in-1 designs like the above, particularly those by Self-Portrait’s Han Chong. Made to appear like belted jackets paired with midi-skirts, the looks are, in fact, dresses—making styling a cinch while still delivering maximum polish. In the last few years, Kate has worn a monochrome version to reopen the National Portrait Gallery, a blush-toned one to visit the Royal College of Midwives with Princess Anne, and a cream bouclé iteration for the Platinum Party at the Palace.
“I love dressing the royals,” Chong has previously said. “It’s a positive thing that women now have more choices than just high street or designer. It’s a good message to young girls that princesses wear £300 dresses to big events. It makes me proud.” Happily, that list of big events now includes Wimbledon.
