Kate’s Parents Acting As ‘Safety Blanket’ For Grandkids As They Step In To Help Her And William

New Delhi: Kate Middleton’s parents have taken on a protective role for her and Prince William’s three children in the wake of her recent cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales, aged 42, shared the news of her chemotherapy treatment that began after doctors found cancer during a scheduled abdominal surgery. A royal expert has said that Kate Middleton’s parents have thrown a “safety blanket” over George, Charlotte and Louis, and offered “adopted son” William the “antidote” of sanctuary.

Although, Kate’s mother Carole, 69, is “desperately upset”, a royal expert says she and husband Michael, 74, have prioritised their little grandchildren; Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and five-year-old Prince Louis.  “They’ll have rallied around her, especially her young family,” royal commentator and biographer Duncan Larcombe told the Mirror. “Carole and Michael will have essentially thrown a safety blanket around the young children to help protect them.”

“In times like this for Kate, it is hugely important. It is crucial the children are looked after carefully,” he added.

Carole had previously expressed how proud she is as a grandmother. “I want to run down the hills, climb the trees and go through the tunnel at the playground,” she told Good Housekeeping in 2021. “As long as I am able to, that’s what I’ll be doing. I cook with them, I muck around dancing, we go on bike rides.”

Since the Prince and Princess of Wales made Windsor their permanent home base last year, Carole and Michael have been able to spend more time with their grandchildren.

Carole is described as being “indispensable” and is playing a “crucial” role in caring for her grandchildren. She will continue to provide hands-on support to Kate and William, it is believed. William, too, is now expected to put his family first and won’t attend any royal engagements until after Easter. He has had to deal with his father’s cancer diagnosis and Kate’s own one in the same month.

Princess of Wales receiving chemotherapy treatment

The Princess of Wales has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is receiving chemotherapy treatment. In a personal video message released by Kensington Palace, a weak looking Kate said her planned “major” abdominal surgery in January was “successful” and it was initially thought her condition was non-cancerous.

“Tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Princess Kate said in her video message.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family… It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” she said.

“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits,” she added, on a positive note.
