The country’s leading retailers – Kmart, Bunnings, Big W, Target and Best&Less – have released their trading hours for the Australia Day public holiday in 2024.
With many Australians set to enjoy a day off on January 26, this guide makes it easy to know when your local stores are open.

Kmart
NSW
- All 24-hour stores are OPEN
- All other NSW stores are OPEN, except for Stanhope which is CLOSED. Some stores have amended opening and closing times. Check here for your local store’s hours.
ACT
- All stores OPEN 8am to 8pm.
VIC
- All 24-hour stores are OPEN
- All other VIC stores are OPEN. Some have amended opening and closing times. Check here for your local store’s hours.
QLD
- All stores OPEN until 9am to 6pm.
- Exceptions are Chinchilla, Goondiwindi, Mareeba, Sarina and Roma which are OPEN 10am to 4pm; Gatton which is OPEN 9am to 4pm; and Port Douglas which are OPEN 9am to 5pm.
TAS
- All 24-hour stores are OPEN
- All other TAS stores are OPEN — Devonport 8am to 8pm; Rosny and Burnie 8am to 6pm.
SA
- Kmart Firle, Tea Tree, Munno Para, Ingle Farm, Kurralta Park, West Lakes, Port Noarlunga, Port Adelaide, Marion and Churchill are all CLOSED.
- All other SA stores are OPEN. Some have amended opening and closing times. Check here for your local store’s hours.
NT
- All NT stores are OPEN 9am to 6pm, except for Katherine which is OPEN 9am to 5pm.
WA
