Latest news on conditions from Buffalo

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs will play one another tonight in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Bills quarterback Josh Allen has never been able to defeat Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs, going 0-2 against the two-time MVP. However, this time around, the Bills will be playing at home. Maybe that is the change they need to finally get the metaphorical KC monkey off their backs.

Just last week, the Bills’ wild card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers had to be postponed due to a snow storm rolling through Western New York. Stadium workers and volunteers were forced to shovel through multiple feet of snow in order to prep Highmark Stadium for the game, and they had to do the same thing again this week. While this weekend’s situation wasn’t dire, with no rescheduling needed, the snow and frigid temperatures will still undoubtedly have an impact on the game.

Here is the weather report for tonight’s game.

Weather report for Chiefs vs. Bills:

After some suburbs near Buffalo experienced over two feet of snow the last 48 hours, Sunday forgivingly offers a change of pace with temperatures rising to 24-25 degrees Fahrenheit compared to a high of 21.9 since Friday, Jan. 19.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts that there will be scattered flurries until midnight local time in Buffalo. With the game scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. ET, snow could be a factor during the game. Thankfully, the snow should be light and inconsistent. Winds, meanwhile, will blow westward between 9 and 13 miles per hour. That is a decent gust, and could play a factor in field goal attempts, but it is unlikely to seriously impact the game.

What will the temperature be around Buffalo?

According to the NWS, the low during the game should be around 16 degrees and temperatures should not rise beyond 24.

That may be bad news for the Buffalo Bills. Patrick Mahomes is 5-0 all-time when game temperature is under 18 degrees, including their wild card victory over the Miami Dolphins last weekend.
