A little girl has suffered a broken leg in a scooter crash in a small NSW town near Newcastle.
A man was riding an electric scooter on Main Road in Cardiff about 10am on Thursday when he allegedly lost control of the light vehicle and crashed into the four-year-old girl.
He then allegedly fled the scene with the scooter.

Paramedics treated the girl for a broken leg and a laceration on her face, before taking her to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
She is expected to undergo surgery.
Images have been released by NSW Police of a man they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.
The man is Caucasian and aged in his late 30s, with short brown hair and a large tattoo on his right forearm.
He is shown in images — taken from nearby CCTV footage — wearing a black hat, blue sunglasses, black shirt, black shorts, red belt, dirty white shoes, grey ‘Nike’ hooded jumper, black shorts and red shoes.
He was riding a black electric scooter.
