In a significant development within the Indian Department of Telecom (DOT), Madhu Arora has taken over the reins as the Member, Technology/Digital Communication Commission, formerly known as the Telecom Commission, effective April 1, 2024.
Arora brings along with her a wealth of experience, having previously served as Advisor, Licensing in the DOT, Government of India.Prior to that, she held the position of CGM, Telecom West Bengal, where she served with distinction from September 2021 to January 2024.
A distinguished alumna of the 1986 batch of Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS), Arora boasts an illustrious career spanning over 36 years, marked by academic excellence and remarkable achievements. She clinched the top position in her batch and has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout her career.
Her academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication from Delhi College of Engineering, an MBA from the University of Queensland, and an LLB from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, where she secured top ranks. Notably, she also secured a coveted position on the Merit List in the Class X All India CBSE examination.
Arora’s contributions to the telecommunications sector are widely acknowledged, particularly her pivotal role in the restructuring of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) along business lines during her tenure as the nodal Principal GM. She is recognized as a dynamic, focused, and empathetic leader, qualities that are expected to propel the DOT towards further advancements in technology and digital communication under her stewardship.
