Mahindra Thar: Dua Lipa and family strike a pose with Mahindra Thar, Anand Mahindra reacts

English pop star Dua Lipa and her family were in the limelight in India recently as they enjoyed a vacation in the country, specifically in Rajasthan and Delhi. Mahindra & Mahindra chairman Anand Mahindra took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account and shared a photo from the trip featuring a family member of the singer inside an older-generation Mahindra Thar.
“I suppose it’s only natural that a star who’s burning hot on the pop charts now would choose a set of equally hot wheels for her Indian getaway…” Mahindra wrote in his tweet.
The image shared by Mahindra features a Thar SUV which has been tailored for jungle safaris. This particular Mahindra Thar, an older-generation model, is commonly used for jungle safaris across the country.

The Mahindra Thar, particularly the Direct Injection (DI) version, has been a revered name since its debut in 2010. The DI variant, essentially derived from the Mahindra MM540 launched in 1985, retained its iconic shape. The 2,523 cc turbo diesel engine, offered in both 2WD and 4WD options, generated a maximum power of 63 hp and 182.5 Nm of peak torque.
While the current-gen Thar is extremely popular model in the country, available in both 4WD and 2WD options, the company is also preparing to bring the five-door iteration of the SUV, thus making it more a practical choice for off-road enthusiasts. Besides that, the manufacturer had recently showcased the Thar.e concept, which will be an electric counterpart of the SUV as the company prepares to intensify its EV transition in the future.
