Mahindra trademarks ‘Scorpio X’ in India: Scorpio N-based pickup truck launch likely soon |

Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to bring its pickup truck in the Indian market soon as it has recently received approval for the trademark ‘Scorpio X’. This move suggests the imminent launch of a production model based on the Scorpio N model.
While Mahindra officially introduced the ‘Global Pik Up’ concept in August 2023, details about the production version remain under wraps. However, the ‘Scorpio X’ trademark hints at a potential name for the final pickup, which will further expand the iconic Scorpio lineup.

Designed at Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), the model bears a striking resemblance to its stablemate, the ScorpioN, particularly evident in its front design with similar headlight, bonnet, fenders, and front doors. In terms of its side profile, the vehicle boasts a snorkel, newly designed alloy wheels, raised suspension, roof rails, LED light bar, and side steps. It also features a spacious loading bay area. Moving to the rear profile, one can notice pixelated LED tail lights and a robust bumper design.
Additionally, it will be underpinned by a new-generation ladder frame platform, anticipated to excel in safety tests such as GNCAP.

The new pickup will likely offer the same petrol and diesel motors, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AT. It will also feature 4WD with shift-on-the-fly capabilities, offering versatility across various terrains, thus getting four drive modes: Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand.
The upcoming model will get an array of new features including Level-2 ADAS, Trailer Sway Mitigation, Drowsy Driver Detection, 5G Connectivity, and more, including a sunroof.
Upon arrival, likely in 2025, the ‘Scorpio X’ could rival models like the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux. While official communication and launch details remain awaited, the trademark has certainly stirred the pot for pickup truck enthusiasts in India.
