Man cut out of vehicle following two-vehicle crash at Appin in Sydney’s southwest

A man was trapped inside a vehicle for some time in a two-vehicle crash in Sydney’s southwest on Thursday morning.

Appin Rd in Appin was closed in both directions near Baden Powell Dr for several hours, following the crash about 7.40am.

The man was sitting in the front seat of a Lexus sedan when it collided with a Toyota Hilux ute.

He was trapped for some time, and a large team of emergency workers had to cut him out of a car.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital with significant lower leg fractures.

A second man in the vehicle was also taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

The 17-year-old girl behind the wheel of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

The man driving the utility vehicle was also taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

NSW Police are investigating the crash.

Appin Rd was reopened about 1.20pm, with traffic conditions returning to normal.
