This live blog has now closed.

Well that’s all from us today – hopefully the continued memories of Sunday’s somewhat below par performance weren’t too painful to re-live!

We’ll be back tomorrow for your daily does of United action, as we build up to a replay of the Carabao Cup final earlier this year with the Red Devils in action against Newcastle in the Round of 16 at Old Trafford.

Until then, take care everyone!

The Argentinian playmaker’s record breaking win last night in Paris took him three ahead of Al-Nassr striker Ronaldo.

Spanish journalist Tomás Roncero posted a video where he said: ‘Hello friends. What we knew happened, they were going to give Messi another Ballon d’Or again.

Gary Neville has claimed that ‘it was not a good decision’ for Manchester United to sign Antony for £85.5million at the end of the 2021-22 season, claiming that the the Glazer family were responsible for the transfer, not Erik ten Hag.

His comments came after some took to social media to scrutinise the Brazilian’s performance during United’s 3-0 defeat by rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The 23-year-old came on in the 86th minute of the match, but with United down by three goals at this point, he largely failed to have an impact. Antony also received a yellow card for kicking out at Man City’s Jeremy Doku, which Neville also called ’embarrassing’ after the match.

Mail Sport expert Chris Sutton did not hold back in our latest It’s All Kicking Off podcast…

Contract talks between United and Aaron Wan-Bissaka appear to have gone quiet.

Negotiations over a new deal looked to be heading for a positive conclusion once the transfer window closed in the summer, but Confidential understands it now seems more likely that United will trigger a 12-month extension to keep Wan-Bissaka under contract until June 2025 and look at his situation again in the New Year.

The 25-year-old defender has just returned to training after suffering a hamstring injury in mid-September, and United want him to get fully fit while they focus on overcoming a poor start to the season.

Afterwards, the England star headed for top Manchester nightspot Chinawhite to celebrate his 26th birthday with family and friends in a VIP area. It is understood that United team-mate Tyrell Malacia was also there.

Manchester United are a team with ‘no hope’ left, Arsene Wenger claimed after the Red Devils’ bitter 3-0 defeat against rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

Reflecting on the Red Devils’ defeat, former Arsenal boss Wenger admitted he felt sorry for the club because ‘there’s no hope in the team’.

‘I would say the gulf between the two teams became bigger and bigger as the game went on,’ the Frenchman told beIN Sports.

A Manchester United supporter has slammed the club after claiming they were ejected from Old Trafford for ‘peacefully’ showing a Palestinian flag.

The fan explained they were present at United’s stadium for Sunday’s Manchester derby defeat against Man City and was removed from the ground at half time by security.

United have adopted the Premier League’s stance on Israel and Palestine flags being shown in grounds at matches in relation to the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group in the Middle East.

KATHRYN BATTE: Every now and again I will get a desperate text from a friend playing Sunday league football. ‘Can you play in goal for us this weekend? Do you know anyone else who can?’

Throughout my short and largely unsuccessful playing career between the sticks, there was always a lack of female goalkeepers — whether it be at grassroots level, university or local amateur leagues. I was one of few people who seemed to enjoy the position — though I will admit, I was a failed outfield player who ended up with the gloves because I was tall.

For a long time, goalkeeping in the women’s game was not cool. Actually, it was brutal. ‘I like women’s football but the keepers are rubbish,’ is a phrase I have heard several times.

The Portuguese star was handed the club armband in the summer as manager Erik ten Hag took it off Harry Maguire, however, United have endured a difficult start to the new season and Fernandes’ leadership qualities have been questioned.

Manchester United players are beginning to question Erik ten Hag’s tactics for the first time following their 3-0 derby defeat against Manchester  City on Sunday, according to report.

United suffered their fifth defeat of the Premier League season having played 10 games so far, and sit eighth in the league table, eight points off of the Champions League spots.

Ten Hag insisted his team selection was tactical in the game, with Victor Lindelof, a right-footed centre back, deployed at left back over Sergio Reguilon, and Raphael Varane benched with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans preferred in the middle of defence.

And Sutton, speaking on the latest episode of Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off! podcast with Ian Ladyman, insisted the Portuguese was not captain’s material, a point he first made in August.

Manchester United should strongly consider appointing a ‘less glamourous’ manager if they choose to part ways with Erik ten Hag, Ian Ladyman urged on Mail Sport’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast.

The manner of the defeat was particularly disappointing for Manchester United, who fell away in the second half and looked all at sea both physically and tactically.

First up to wet your whistles…

STEVE COPPELL: Whenever I went back to Old Trafford as a manager, I’d think, “Wow, I played here”. I’m so proud of my association with the club. Now I look at them and I’m reminded of a universal truth. If things aren’t right at the top of any football club, it’s not right.

A disconnect between the ownership and fanbase ends up affecting what happens on the pitch so no team can perform to its full potential. There are many examples over the last 20 years.

It doesn’t work unless different parts of the club are in harmony. I’m not close enough to United to pretend to know what specifically needs to change.

Good morning everyone!
