A second man, aged 25, who was driving an Audi and allegedly street racing with Brito immediately before the crash, was also charged with several offences including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death and two counts of failing to stop and render assistance after impact causing death.

On Thursday police announced that, following “further inquiries”, the 25-year-old man has now also been charged with two counts of manslaughter.

He will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on May 2.

Brito, who remains in custody, will also appear in the same court on the same day.

A 24-year-old woman, who police allege was a passenger in the Audi, remains on conditional bail charged with concealing a serious indictable offence.

She is next due in court on April 11.

Following the crash, Jodie Barnett-Howard, who spoke to 7NEWS on behalf of Brito’s mother, said what happened was a tragic accident.

She said the family believed Brito would have never intentionally wanted to harm the two children.

“He loved those kids,” she said.

At the time, Detective Inspector Jason Hogan described the crash scene as horrific.

“It is a particularly nasty crash where two innocent young children have lost their lives,” he said.
