Maruti Suzuki sells two million+ vehicles in ’23 as SUVs offset Dec decline

Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 1,37,551 vehicles in December 2023, witnessing a slight 1.2 percent decline as compared to 1,39,347 units sold in the corresponding month last year. Speaking of the passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market, the company clocked 1,04,778 units in the month, a substantial 6.4 percent decline as against the 1,12,010 units sold in December 2022.
However, despite the slight overall decline in its sales in the last month of 2023, the company, for the first time, has crossed two lakh sales milestone in the calendar year 2023, which included a highest-ever export of 2,69,046 units. Although the demand for mini and compact segments seemed to have shrunk a bit, the SUV segment, where the company has finally stepped on the pedal lately, has offset the overall decline in other segments.
