A single mother has been brought to tears by a “beautiful and kind” gesture from a man who installed a security screen at her Melbourne home.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, hired a man named Adam* from SPM Melbourne to install the screen on her window and said they got to chatting while he was working.
“We got talking and in short I told him about me being a single mum and how my little one and I had been through a tough period, but it’s slowly working out,” she said.

“He offered to do the job for free if I couldn’t afford it in order to keep us safe, but I declined, through tears, being overwhelmed at his kindness and generosity and assured him I could pay.”
But after he had installed the security screen, Adam presented the mother with a card and $50 note as a gift to her son.
“My son was overwhelmed and hugged him, genuinely shocked and in awe a stranger would be so kind,” she said.
“It was a beautiful and kind moment I will treasure forever. It reminded me there’s so much good out there and Adam is a perfect example.”
The woman urged anyone who needs security screens or doors installed in the Craigieburn area to consider using SPM Melbourne.
After the story was posted on Instagram, it was flooded with positive messages for Adam, with some saying they are not surprised by his kindness.
“I actually used this company when he first started off. He’s a very honest, genuine person. He is a hard worker trying to support his family . I’m not at the least surprised he has done this,” one person commented.
Another wrote: “And that my friends is true humanity. All the best to the mum and boy and I hope sir your business flourishes. You are a hero.”
