The Theme of the Met Gala 2024
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is inspired by the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” This show, running from May 10 to September 2 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will feature 250 objects from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. These items, some of which have never been displayed publicly before, will be presented with the help of modern technology like CGI, AI, and video animation. The dress code for the Met Gala 2024 is “The Garden of Time,” drawing inspiration from a short story by J.G. Ballard written in 1962.

This year’s co-chairs bring a mix of fashion and entertainment talent. Making a comeback after a five year break, Zendaya hinted at her return to the event alongside her stylist, Law Roach, saying, “We have some ideas. It felt like the right time to try to go back to the Met.” Jennifer Lopez, another big name expected at the gala, mentioned in an interview with Hola! that she is still deciding on her outfit, stating, “I have a few different sketches.”

News confirmed that Taylow Swift will be skipping the event to prepare for the European leg of her sold-out Eras Tour.
When and where to watch Met Gala 2024?
Hosted by Vogue, the grand event will be streamed live on TikTok, YouTube, and other digital platforms of the magazine. The red carpet livestream will take place on Monday, May 6th starting at 6:00 pm ET and will be hosted by actor Gwendoline Christie, producer and actor La La Anthony, and model Ashley Graham
