Microsoft’s leaked plan for new Xbox console
These rumors align with Microsoft’s own leaked plans from 2023. The internal documents that the company revealed during an FTC lawsuit last year also hinted at the launch of an Xbox console codenamed “Brooklin.”
This all-digital console was cylindrically shaped and boasted upgrades like 2TB of storage, USB-C, better Wi-Fi and reduced power consumption.
While Microsoft’s roadmap may have shifted, the idea of a refreshed Xbox Series X makes sense as we approach the midpoint of this console generation. Rivals like Sony are rumored to be prepping mid-cycle PlayStation updates as well.
In a recent podcast, Xbox President Sarah Bond talked about “exciting stuff coming out in hardware” that the company will be sharing this holiday. She also discussed Xbox being “invested in the next-generation roadmap,” but didn’t hint at an Xbox Series X refresh, and didn’t mention if a new console is set to hit the store shelves in a few months.
However, the timing and exact specs of the company still remains a mystery for now. But an all-digital version aimed at budget-conscious gamers seems plausible. Official confirmation and more details from Microsoft on the rumored “Brooklin” Xbox are expected in the coming days.
