Sounds mortifying?

Well unfortunately that’s exactly what one mum did, named Em from the US, announcing her error in a now viral video online.

The mum explained that she had just made an E-invite for her daughter’s first birthday party.

Em said that on the E-invite “it said import contacts and I thought it might import so I could select specific contacts.”

Instead it imported all 487 of her contacts and invited them to her daughter’s birthday party.

“Not only did I invite my boss, all of my coworkers, all of the people that had ever been stored in my phone, but it sent invitations based off of how they are stored in my phone.”

“I want you to just take a second to think about everyone stored in your phone and how they’re stored in your phone,” she said.

The mum gave examples of what she meant: “Imagine receiving an invitation with your name and an eyeroll next to it or ‘Jess — hit her car in the parking lot.’”

She finished her video by saying: “I need to quit or get a new identity.”

Em’s video has received more than 12 million views and regular punters in the comments section on social media empathised with her.

“This should qualify you for witness protection,” said one.

“I think E-invite owes you compensation,” said another.

“Getting secondhand emotional distress,” added a third.
